Modern physiology says that between the two eyebrows is the gland that is the most mysterious part of the body. This gland, called the pineal gland, is the Shivnetra, the eye of the Shiva, of tantra. Between the two eyes there exists a third eye, but it is non-functioning. You have to do something to open it. Otherwise, it remains closed.
Close your eyes and focus both eyes on space in the middle of your eyebrows. Give total attention to it. This is one of the simplest methods of being attentive. You cannot be attentive to any other part of the body so easily. This gland absorbs attention like anything. If you give attention to it, both your eyes become hypnotised with the third eye. They become fixed; they cannot move. The third eye forces attention. It is magnetic. Your attention is brought to it forcibly. It is absorbed.
It is said in ancient tantra scriptures that for the third eye, attention is food. And once you feel that the gland itself is magnetically pulling your attention, it is not so difficult. For the first time you will see thoughts running before you. You will become the witness. It is just like a film screen: thoughts are running and you are a witness.

There is only one courage and that is the courage to go on dying to the past, not to collect it, not to accumulate it, not to cling to it. We all cling to the past, and because we cling to the past we become unavailable to the present.
Wherever you find that society is in conflict with nature, choose nature – whatever the cost. You will never be a loser.
The world is an echoing place. If we throw anger, anger comes back; if we give love, love comes back.
The moment you are illuminated, the whole of existence is illuminated. If you are dark, then the whole of existence is dark. It all depends on you.
Osho.

When a well is dug, first of all it is stones, pebbles and mud which come out and not the water. It depends on the land also. Somewhere the water is at thirty feet and somewhere the water is at sixty feet deep. Water is certainly there. Every land has water underneath it but the difference is of depth.
A simple-minded person will get the water soon – maybe at two, three or ten feet, and if a complicated person digs then he may get it at fifty or sixty feet. An innocent-minded person will get it quickly, but a violent, angry man will take a long time to reach the water level. The difference is in the layers of the land. Water is underneath all land. The following inspiring quote is from the great Mystic Master Osho (Rajneesh).
“Look at the trees, look at the birds, look at the clouds, look at the stars… and if you have eyes you will be able to see that the whole existence is joyful. Everything is simply happy. Trees are happy for no reason; they are not going to become prime ministers or presidents and they are not going to become rich and they will never have any bank balance. Look at the flowers – for no reason. It is simply unbelievable how happy flowers are.”
FUNDAMENTALLY JUST HAPPY! Remember this statement. It is the reward of a meditative life. It is important here to differentiate between pleasure and happiness. Pleasure being something derived through some cause, and by happiness here meaning a state of joy without any cause. This joyfulness naturally emerges. It starts to flow from deep within and in it you simply rejoice and celebrate life.
This happiness comes when you simply reside as yourself. The trees are not only not trying to become prime ministers, they are also not trying to become the stars and the stars are not trying to become flowers. They are all residing as themselves. Thus, there is freedom from comparison and freedom from chasing “the other”. There is no sense of feeling “less” or something lacking, which is brought about through the insanity of measuring against some fictitious ideal, or another. This means that you don’t have to try to become something other than who you are. In Zen speak – the frog becomes the frog.
If fundamental happiness was not enough, one more most beautiful thing starts to happen when you reside as yourself and joy starts to spontaneously flow… it gives birth to the miracle of Love.
